It typically hasn’t been a very good season when you manage to spend just one day in first place in your division all year, but in Oakland’s case I think we’d all agree 2012 has been one for the storytellers.
Texas plays a big part in that, of course, but whether the Rangers’ own 2012 story is all about what happened down the stretch probably depends entirely on what happens tomorrow night.
The battle cry a year ago, after the franchise’s first World Series run had fallen short, was the questionably catchy “11 in ’11.”
The amount of time this year that I dreamed we could be talking about “12 in ’12” for the Rangers lasted only half a day longer than Oakland’s perch atop the AL West.
But hey, that’s where we are.
And, now that the numbness of 160-162 has worn off, I’m feeling pretty good about things. Like my team, the last couple days I’ve felt like I had nothing left in the tank.
Not any more. I’m rebooted.
Tomorrow morning: Twelve things.
